Forbes contributor Larry Olmsted takes issue with with Bon Appétit Magazine's 10 Best U.S. Hotels For Food Lovers list for 2013. Noting the absence of the MGM Grand he argues the resort's chef roster including Joel Robuchon, Emeril Lagasse, Tom Colicchio and Michael Mina's Nobhill Tavern and Seablue restaurants should have garnered MGM a place in the final ten. Olmstead will be surprised to learn Nobhill Tavern closed on March 30 and Seablue shuttered last August. Mina's gastropub concept Pub 1842 will open in the former Seablue space this summer. [Forbes]

Erik Chudy works as an architect with one goal in mind — finding the perfect burger in Vegas. He documents his quest on Vegas Burger Blog, where he has traveled to dives such as the Dispensary Lounge and strictly burger joints like Burger Bar. He's found surprises off-Strip and disappointments at places where the burgers are supposed to be all that and a stick of butter. Here he shares his three favorite burgers, all off-Strip.

Original Tommy's, the California based burger chain is expanding its Vegas presence with a drive thru. The future northwest spot will create 2,492-feet of space from an existing restaurant shell and become the third Nevada branch to add to burger legend's more than 30 locations in Southern California.

Since 1946 Tommy's has been known for its signature chili, whether atop its burgers, fries or hot dogs. The burger empire already operates local branches in Henderson and on the eastside, the only non-California locations for the six-decade old company.

Monte%20Carlo%204-15-2013.jpgFuture home of The Double Barrel [Photo: Bradley Martin]

Monte Carlo is returning a touch of class to their buffet, if in name only. The Monte Carlo Buffet changed its name to Big Belly Buffet in June of last year following a remodel. Quietly, the resort has switched the name back to The Buffet and the company Website has already registered the changeover. The name contains upper case letters unlike, the buffet, its lowercase neighbor at Aria.

The change comes amidst construction progress on new restaurants being added to The Buffet's side of the resort and first reported by Eater Vegas. The north Strip entrance will be home to five future restaurants including The Double Barrel, a 9,000-square-foot space to feature live entertainment and anchor a new 25,143-square-foot addition to the front of the resort.
